September 2015 | Ariel and Alder

Sporting my latest thrifting find, a kimono in autumn colors! Its been perfect for these cold morning/sweltering afternoon days that are pretty typical for early fall.  Im psyched to wear sweaters for sure, but at just .99 cents this kimono suits me fine for now.

Do you thrift? What is something awesome you've scored this Fall?

So many cute summer jewelry staples, in new fall colors!! I was borderline obsessed with tassel earrings all summer long and I was superbly excited to see that Baublebar re-stocked them in updated colors. So dangerous!

Which piece is your favorite? I will start with just one (or two or three, hehe)

I have a thing about store bought pasta sauce, if I'm feeling superbly lazy then its whatever but usually I don't like the list of ingredients on the back of Prego or Ragu. So weird, slightly silly but it led me to seek out a recipe for easy pasta sauce with whole ingredients to my liking. This recipe costs around seven dollars and makes a few jars full. Go one step further by using home grown garden tomatoes and herbs (my dad is my go-to garden farmer!)

-10-12 Tomatoes
-1/4 Cup Olive Oil
-1/4 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
-5-8 Garlic Peeled Cloves
-1/4 Teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
-1 Can Tomato Paste
-4 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley
-2 Chopped Onions
-2 Teaspoons Salt
-1 Cup Basil

1. Wash and dump tomatoes into the crockpot (here is the one I use). Don't worry too much about chopping and seeds, it all gets pulverized in the end.

2. Add in all other ingredients to the pot.

3. Cook on low for 1-2 days (yes, DAYS), making sure the moisture level doesn't get too low.

4. When thoroughly cooked, lumpy, and loose proceed to blend all ingredients in a blender or food processor.

6. Jar, lid, and refrigerate for future use on pasta! I usually get 6-8 jars depending on the batch.

Happy Sauce-ing!

What Im Wearing: Striped Shirt/ Crystal Cuff (c/o)/ Watch (c/o)/ Similar Sweater

Taking a moment to brag on the blog. A few weeks ago I had access to a Brother embroidery machine and wanted to take it for a practice run. I have wanted an embroidery machine for a long time, and after using this one to add a Mickey emblem to an otherwise plain sweater I think its moved its way to the top of my Christmas wish list. I loved how it turned out!

Fall is here! Step 1, run to Starbucks for a much anticipated PSL. Step 2, bring out all my cozy flannels and do a happy dance.  There is nothing that gets more wear in my closet than a great flannel shirt. Living in the Pacific Northwest the phrase "staple item" isn't even close to how I feel about flannel shirts. Some days throwing one of these cozy shirts on is the difference between a good and bad morning.

Above are six of my current favorites. Old Navy and Goodnight Macaroon are especially killin it this season! I have been really impressed with Old Navy two autumns in a row.

Cheers to the first of many Saturday afternoons spent watching college games with friends! Tailgates, fall games, and warm coffee drinks are just some of the things that make fall my favorite season. I have some fun projects lined up within the next few months with one of my favorite jewelry gals, Lisi Lerch. Stay tuned for that but till then, she has asked me to promote some school spirit for the season and I couldn't be happier to pop these fun tassel earrings on to support my Beavs.

Wanna join team tassel? hehe, get 15% off your Lisi Lerch purchase by entering the code pdxprepster15 at checkout. The earrings come in a multitude of colors and in the off chance that your school hues aren't available, she has other styles to offer.

Have a wonderful weekend and GO BEAVS!

Another week, another Disney Style post! In this combo I particularly love the fringed skirt, I think it would be cute in a thousand different autumn combinations!

10 watches that I have either already purchased or have caught my eye this season. It is so helpful to have an actual watch (thats not your smart phone!) during the school season and I've found that paying a little more for a nice one is always worth it in the long term. If you are looking to stay under the 20$ range as a matter of practicality, I find that BP and Target always have a good selection!

ALOHA!!!

I like themes, ah-lot! I'm currently in Oahu, Hawaii so this weeks Disney Style post just had to correspond right? he-he. This stitch sweatshirt was just too adorable and I had to include it even though its a little casual next to Lilo. To check out the last few Disney Style weeks see here and here.

Happy Wednesday!

If you're reading this, I am somewhere up in the air on a somewhat stuffy plane! I'm headed somewhere warm and sunny today before fall officially hits and I am so excited to arrive!

One adorable piece of jewelry I never thought I would acquire or adore so much is this adorable "PDX" airport tag from Jet Set Candy. If you have never heard of them they make jewelry based on travel destinations and the idea is to collect locations as you travel. So adorable and so unique, I am wearing mine today while I depart Portland Airport.

Want to win a tag of your own? Check on my Instagram for a giveaway and to see where I've landed!
