Ariel and Alder

Everyone, especially if you live here in Portland, has one of these girls (or guys!) on their list. They shop at flea markets, browse the bins at goodwill, are possibly vegan gluten free or paleo, and love to collect things that have meaning within their personal style.

On the other hand this person could just be straight up random in what they like, for me thats my friend Marisa. One minute she is shopping for a boho print tunic and the next minute she flip flops and wants a tailored blazer. She likes what she likes and thats the end of it, its taken me years to figure out her rhyme and reason. Whats hilarious is her mom is the same exact way but in a completely opposite fashion. Which leads me to believe this epidemic could be genetic :)

The key with these gifts is that they are returnable or exchangeable, which I think is a good rule of thumb for all gift giving. With that said finding something unique is easy at a store with unique things. Anthropologie is my go to for this type of gift giving and never fails, here are a few items I love this year and are on my radar for my own "eclectic" friends.

Monogram Mug (only 10$)

Talking about something new to me on the blog today, Menswear!

My parents gifted my boyfriend Cameron this Barbour coat last year and he has used it so much in this past year that I thought we should shoot one of his daily outfits and share it as a gift idea. Menswear is in my opinion superbly important to be aware of this time of year and if you know what someone needs this winter you are set for gift giving!

Outfit Details: Quilted Barbour Coat (Camerons xmas present last year!)/ Classic Blue Button Up Ludlow Shirt/ Tan Slim Fit Denim/ Arvo Watch (c/o)

One of these jackets is a lifetime piece and would make a great gift for your dad, brother, friend, or significant other. It is an especially smart idea to gift these as a big gift and split the bill between you as they do run a little costly. I would definitely say that the cost per wear is well worth it in the end and after seeing this on Cameron more than 100 times this year, I'm deeply convinced it was one of the best gifts given to him. It rarely makes its way back into the closet!

Cam was a super good sport about letting me snap photos of him, but it was totally bizarre switching roles as photographer and model (I use that word lightly, you should see my outtakes). He was kind enough to share his menswear holiday picks in the widget below for you to browse. Best of luck shopping for the dudes in your life!

Thanks, Cameron :) I know you are more comfortable behind the lens!

3/ Little Mermaid Flannel ($49.99)/ 4/ Snow Forest Scarf ($78.00)
8/ Little Mermaid Gym Tee ($20.00) 9/ Pom Pom Hat ($49.50) 10/ Shell Luggage Tag ($10.00)

In the same vein of sharing my boyfriends wish list on the blog, I thought I would share my own! I have done this on this blog in years past and I think I'm not alone in loving to peek at what people want each year for the Holidays. As you can see the majority of this years list is Disney related (naturally) but this cold wet weather has me eyeballing a few cozy staples like new slippers, a fleece pullover and this gorgeous scarf

I did catch Cameron placing some Nordstrom boxes under our tree, so sneaky this time of year!

Was wondering the mall (holiday shopping is is full swing!!) last night when I stumbled on the worlds most adorable star wars collection at Pottery Barn Kids. Oh my word, everything is so lust worthy for the child within and every detail is oh-so purposeful.

Everything from party supplies to a ridiculous millennium falcon bed frame is listed and items are both boy and girl friendly. For any children in your life who love Star Wars, these items would make incredible gifts that make both parent and child happy. I did leave the store with a cute Yoda freezer pack but to be completely honest I was eyeballing this sheet set for my own apartment.

Monograms, Home Decor, and Star Wars? I. Cant. Get. Enough!

Browse some of my favorites below and may the force be with you!

I absolutely love that I have the excuse to call anything pastel "sugar plum" this time of year! I usually associate pinks, purples, and sky blues with springtime and easter, but they make such a pretty holiday combo right?

Oldies but goodies! These flats are a little (ok ahhh-lot!) overpriced but oh so fun anyway!

Outfit Details: Dark Wash Denim/ Color Block Sweater (similar dress!)/ Rockstud Flats (old season, current ones linked)/ Abba Earrings (c/o)/ Plaid Cashmere Scarf/ Gold Face Watch (c/o)/ Grey Knit Pom Pom Hat (similar linked)

This scarf was gifted to me by my boyfriends grandparents last Christmas and it truly has become one of my unexpected favorites. I love to receive what I call underground gifts, gifts that sit on your desk the day after christmas not particularly inspiring and then through your daily life become a quick favorite. I really didn't think of it at the time but I can match this plaid with anything! Pink, brown, grey, or tan, It's super versatile and just so happens to match my favorite flats. The scarf I linked is similar in colors and is on sale right now so if you know someone who wears the color palette I described it might make a great gift.

Happy Weekend Friends!
